Visa announced Intelligent Commerce Connect, a new platform that serves as a network, protocol, and token‑vault‑agnostic on‑ramp for agentic commerce. The solution enables businesses, AI‑agent builders, merchants, and enablers to integrate Visa’s payment infrastructure so that autonomous agents can initiate, tokenise, spend, and authenticate transactions on behalf of consumers.

The platform is currently in a pilot phase with partners including Aldar, AWS, Diddo, Highnote, Mesh, Payabli, and Sumvin. Visa plans to roll the service out to additional partners throughout 2026, with general availability targeted for June of that year.

Strategically, Intelligent Commerce Connect positions Visa as a foundational layer for AI‑driven shopping. By providing a trusted payment acceptance infrastructure that works with both Visa and non‑Visa cards, the company expands its value‑added services and deepens network effects, aligning with its broader strategy to grow beyond traditional card volumes.

Management highlighted the importance of trust, security, and choice for agent‑led commerce. Andrew Torre, President of Value‑Added Services, said the platform brings Visa’s trusted payment acceptance infrastructure into the emerging world of AI‑driven commerce, enabling businesses to innovate without compromising control or protection. Mandy Lamb and Mark Nelsen echoed the focus on security and the potential for new revenue streams.

The launch signals a significant shift toward AI‑powered commerce, offering merchants a single integration point for AI agents and opening new avenues for Visa to monetize value‑added services. The phased rollout and pilot results will test the platform’s scalability and integration ease, while the strategic positioning may give Visa a competitive edge over other payment networks exploring similar agentic commerce solutions.
