Verde Resources commissioned a Life Cycle Assessment with WAP Sustainability to develop an Environmental Product Declaration for the engineered biochar used in its BioAsphalt™ product line.
The EPD will provide independent, science‑based data on the full life‑cycle environmental impacts of the biochar, including its carbon‑sequestration benefits, and is slated for publication later this summer after third‑party verification.
The initiative supports Verde’s partnership with Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions, the largest liquid asphalt producer in North America, and aligns with Verde’s Net Zero Blueprint. It will give state and municipal transportation departments, private contractors, and corporate buyers transparent, third‑party validated information to meet ESG and sustainability reporting requirements.
CEO Jack Wong said the EPD will "transform everyday roads into measurable, verifiable carbon sinks," bridging high‑performance infrastructure with high‑integrity carbon accounting. COO Eric Bava added that the partnership "equips Ergon, along with its partners, contractors, customers, and broader ecosystem, with practical tools to reduce Scope emissions and further solidify their leadership in sustainable infrastructure."
The EPD also underpins Verde’s carbon‑credit generation strategy, building on its first verified carbon removal credits from asphalt production and installation. By providing transparent data, the EPD enhances the credibility of these credits and supports the company’s goal of licensing its Net Zero blueprint globally.
