Bristow Group Inc. announced the launch of a second international test project for zero‑ and low‑emission aviation, partnering with Electra, Avinor and the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority. The project builds on Bristow’s first test arena, which concluded on January 28 2026 with the operation of Beta Technologies’ ALIA electric aircraft.

The new program will evaluate Electra’s hybrid‑electric EL9 Ultra‑Short aircraft, a nine‑passenger model designed for short‑takeoff and landing. Test flights will begin at smaller airports in Northern Norway, then move to adapted access points such as parking lots and fields, and ultimately feed into a major Norwegian aviation hub.

By expanding its sustainable aviation portfolio, Bristow is positioning itself to capture new revenue streams and strengthen its competitive edge in the emerging low‑emission market. The initiative also demonstrates the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and technological innovation.

The partnership with Avinor and the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority places the project within Norway’s regulatory sandbox, allowing Bristow to generate operational, regulatory and market knowledge that will support the broader introduction of electric and hybrid‑electric aircraft. The program builds on lessons learned from the first test project, providing a proven framework for scaling future operations.

Chris Bradshaw, Bristow’s President and CEO, said, “Our mission continues to prioritize safety, sustainability, and positive community impact. The achievements highlighted in this report reflect our dedicated efforts to prioritize sustainable business practices, uphold safety as our highest priority, and strengthen our connections with communities where we operate and call home.”

The project signals a significant step toward mainstreaming zero‑emission aviation in Norway and beyond, positioning Bristow as a leader in advanced air mobility and setting the stage for future commercial deployments of hybrid‑electric aircraft.
