Workday Government announced the launch of its new Personnel Action Request (PAR) Agent, an AI‑driven solution designed to streamline federal human‑resources operations. The agent embeds automated checks, real‑time visibility, and policy validation directly into the PAR workflow, allowing agencies to process hires, promotions, reassignments, pay changes, and separations more efficiently.
The PAR Agent is projected to cut average cycle times from 22‑45 days to 9‑18 days, a reduction that could save high‑volume agencies up to 64,000 labor hours and $3.56 million annually. These savings arise from eliminating manual steps, reducing errors, and providing instant compliance checks that prevent costly delays.
The launch aligns with Workday’s broader AI strategy, including its Sana foundation, and underscores the company’s focus on federal clients. Workday Government expects the agent to be available to its customers in 2027, positioning the product as a key component of the agency’s digital transformation roadmap.
"Federal HR leaders are under pressure to fill critical roles, retain top talent, and ensure every personnel action supports mission readiness – yet they are often constrained by legacy, paper‑based processes. With our PAR Agent, we are helping agencies move beyond manual PAR processing to an integrated, AI‑enabled model that improves accuracy, accelerates cycle times, and gives leaders the real‑time visibility they need to manage their workforce more effectively," said Lynn Martin, general manager of Workday Government.
The introduction of the PAR Agent signals a significant step toward modernizing federal HR, potentially accelerating workforce readiness and reducing administrative costs across agencies. Its integration into Workday’s AI ecosystem may also drive broader adoption of AI‑powered solutions within the federal sector, reinforcing Workday Government’s position as a leading provider of intelligent workforce platforms.
