Select Water Solutions, Inc. (WTTR) announced today a definitive agreement with LibertyStream Infrastructure Partners to build commercial lithium‑carbonate production facilities at Select’s water treatment and recycling sites in the Midland Basin, Texas.

The partnership will begin with a Stage 1 facility at a Howard County site, slated for commissioning by the end of December 2026, with a production capacity of up to 1,000 tonnes of battery‑grade lithium carbonate per year. Subsequent stages will add additional facilities in Howard, Martin, Midland, Upton and Glasscock counties, expanding the program to multiple sites.

By integrating lithium extraction into its existing water infrastructure, WTTR aims to unlock value from produced‑water streams, creating a high‑margin, recurring revenue source that complements its water‑infrastructure business. The move positions the company to capture demand from the growing electric‑vehicle battery market while leveraging its proven recycling technology and extensive pipeline network.
